METAStadt Open Airs – A Success Story Under the Open Sky

In just a few years, the METAStadt Open Airs in Vienna’s 22nd district have become a defining part of the city’s live music scene. What was still an undiscovered venue for many before 2019 quickly transformed into a new cultural hotspot with the launch of the concert series.

Since then, the unique venue has impressed audiences with its distinctive industrial charm, extraordinary atmosphere and spectacular setting for performances by national and international artists. Known as “Stadlau’s most beautiful building”, METAStadt attracts thousands of visitors and has also become a favourite location among performing artists.

METAStadt Open Airs 2019 – The Beginning

The first season of the METAStadt Open Airs launched with three major concert nights. Grammy-winning US rock band GRETA VAN FLEET, British indie stars THE 1975 and German cult act SCOOTER opened the series and introduced the venue to music fans far beyond the district.

METAStadt Open Airs 2022 – Establishing the Venue

Following the successful debut, the concert series expanded in 2022. With performances by artists such as ELEMENT OF CRIME, CRO, SARAH CONNOR, SIDO, MICHAEL KIWANUKA, SKUNK ANANSIE, ALT-J and THE KOOKS, METAStadt firmly established itself as one of Vienna’s most distinctive live music locations.

METAStadt Open Airs 2024 – The Festival Experience

In 2024, the concert series continued its successful journey with a diverse programme appealing to a wide range of musical tastes. The line-up included JUNGLE, KHRUANGBIN, PARCELS, AIR, PAUL KALKBRENNER, PATTI SMITH, KORN, CYPRESS HILL, CLAWFINGER and GIANT ROOKS, among others. With every season, METAStadt’s reputation as an exceptional open-air concert destination continues to grow.
